The Château takes its name from the battle of « Pont d’Arcole » in 1796. Jean Barthe, a soldier in Bonaparte’s army and an ancestor of the château owners fought it. He bought his first vineyard thanks to a few gold coins given by the Emperor.

The vineyard is planted on clay limestone hillside & plateaux, 80% Merlot and 20 % Cabernet Francs, the most adapted grapes varieties on this terroir. We have 3 labels: Chateau Jean Faux “Sainte Radegonde”, a blend of the hillsides & the plateaux grapes, Chateau Jean Faux “Les Sources” a unique parcel vinified with great delicacy, and La Dame de Château Jean Faux, the second wine of the estate, in the best Bordelaise tradition.

The vintage « Les Sources » comes from a vineyard which is grown on a plateau. The vinification has been softened to obtain a wine which is more on the fruit, a more accessible wine.
